Parents, young people, community groups and everyone in between are invited to a Community Well Being Event taking place in Craigavon Civic Centre on Thursday 17th November.
Focusing on relaxation, fun and self-care, this event will also feature information stands with details on support services for drugs, alcohol and mental health.
Open to the whole community there will be guest speakers and interactive activities helping to educate people on the services provided by organisations within the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon area as well as improving access to these services.
Look out for signposting, advice, guidance, information and intervention as well as free health checks, colour breathing and acupuncture as well as goodie bags and spot prizes. Light refreshments will also be served on the night.
“This is the first event of this kind and will show how all of these organisations can work together to ultimately help those who need their support,” commented Councillor Julie Flaherty, Chair of the PCSP.
“We would like to encourage people to come along, get involved, enjoy some relaxation workshops as well as getting some vital information and advice on these important issues. There will also be an emotive talk from Theresa Burke whose son sadly died as a result of taking drugs, in the hope it will persuade other young people not to get involved.”
The event has been organised by Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Policing & Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) in partnership with Southern Drug and Alcohol Communication Team Connections Service (SDACT).

Arthritis care are holding a ‘Challenging Your Condition’ course in Craigavon Civic Centre Monday 26th September, running for 6 weeks every Monday from 10.30am. This is for anyone living with a long term condition eg Arthritis, MS, Epilespy, Parkinson’s etc and will teach skills and techniques to manage the condition better.

Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council have assembled a line up of energy experts and advisors for an event aimed at businesses and organisations seeking practical advice and assistance to better manage their energy needs and cut costs. The first Energy Awareness Breakfast, in collaboration with Manufacturing NI, will take place in Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre on Thursday 15th September at 8am. Businesses across the borough are invited to attend. The 2 hour event will be practical and advice-driven and led by Jamie Delargy, energy expert and former UTV presenter. Key representatives from the Utility Regulator and Invest NI will be among the high profile list of experts available to answer any questions.

Staff at Craigavon Civic & Conference Centre would like to wish Janet Groom a happy 50th birthday. Janet enjoyed a birthday meal with family and friends at the Conference Centre on 13th August 2016. A great time was had by all.
Next Friday, 12th August, the W J Mayes Hall will be the venue for ‘Journey’ – a showcase of music, dance and song featuring amazing local dance and drama schools and teachers. This fundraiser is in aid of Sean Roberts Drama College Fund. Doors open @ 7pm, show starts at 7.30pm. Entry is £7 and can be paid at the door. Suitable for all ages. Bar facility is also available.
